Kai Dikhas Foundation is delighted to host a unique world music concert by the project Songs of Roma | Lieder der Roma in Berlin. Audiences will experience the rich acoustic music of the Roma of Central Europe, with traditional songs and contemporary compositions performed in the Romani language, live and with heartfelt passion.
The evening will feature the exceptional talents of Oto Bunda [SK], originally from Slovakia, who comes from one of the most influential families in traditional cimbalom music. His grandfather, Eugen Bunda, led the ensemble Zeleziar for twenty years and toured the world even during the communist era. Oto himself has performed with the Romathan Theater in Košice and co-directed the Chavorenge children’s choir on international tours, sharing Roma music across the globe. Joining him is Astrid [CZ], a singer, pianist, and composer of ambient music. She began playing piano at age six under the guidance of her mother, Halka, a pianist and organist. Of mixed Czech-Roma-Sinti heritage, Astrid discovered Roma music through her collaboration with Oto in Prague. In addition to her musical work, she is an accomplished graphic designer, copywriter, and photographer.
Songs of Roma had the honor of playing several concerts at the Glastonbury Festival 2025 and also led a singing & dancing workshop there.
The concert is organized by the association Giľora with the kind support of the Deutsch-Tschechischer Zukunftsfonds, Bader Philanthropies Inc., Stiftung Kai Dikhas, and ERIAC, and is hosted by Stiftung Kai Dikhas at Prinzenstraße 84, Berlin. The venue is easily accessible via AUFBAU HAUS am Moritzplatz, U-Bahn U8, and Bus M29. Admission is by donation.
