The Kai Dikhas Foundation cordially invites you to the opening of the exhibition “Fortgezerrt in die Todeslager”.
Organized by KogA in cooperation with the Sparkassenstiftung Lüneburg and Otto Pankok Stiftung as part of the Weeks Against Racism in Lüneburg, the exhibition presents works by Otto Pankok and Ceija Stojka. The artworks on display are part of the Kai Dikhas Collection.
Pankok’s powerful portraits of Düsseldorf Sinti* reflect a profound humanistic commitment and solidarity with those marginalized by society. During the National Socialist era, his works were classified as “degenerate” and removed from museums. His artistic practice stands as a testament to dignity, empathy, and resistance to injustice.
In dialogue with these works are the paintings and drawings of Ceija Stojka, an Austrian Romni and survivor of Auschwitz, Ravensbrück, and Bergen-Belsen. Decades after surviving the camps as a child, she began to articulate her experiences through visual art and writing. Today, her oeuvre is recognized as one of the most significant artistic testimonies to the genocide of Roma* and Sinti*.
Through the encounter of these two artistic positions, the exhibition creates space for remembrance, critical reflection, and dialogue on the persecution of Sinti* and Roma*, as well as on the historical and ongoing manifestations of antigypsyism.
We would be honored to welcome you.
